Show Signpost rage 5 Artists place in competition May 17, 1974 Weber State College's Artist Guild is now holding their Annual student exhibition in the Art Department. The student exhibition began May 13 and will run until May 18. All art majors and minors were invited to participate in the event with entrees used in competition. Judging was made in several categories. Categories such as First place ceramics printmaking, best of show, painting, watercolor, ceramics, jewelry, textiles, sculpture, photo and commercial art. Drawing was also included in the divisions. First prize in printmaking went to Bill Johnson for his creation of "P.Q. IV". A best of show award went to Russ Simmons for his "Box Series." In the painting category, Ruth Ford's creation "Untitled" took first place honors with an honorable mention followed up by Dean Hackett with his "Untitled Landscape." Ogan respectively. Honors in ceramics will be awarded to Georgiana Miyngishima for her first place ceramic of "Dedicated to my dentist" with an honorable mention Raku II captured by G.K. Nickerson. Jewelry honors also were given to douglas Tittensor for his opal and silver ring set entitled simply "Opal and Silver Ring Set." Chris Bond took both the first with a "Grasshopper Holder Set" place and honorable mention awards in the sculpting contest First place jewelry and "Mechanical Flower Grinder."In photography, Jack Price took first prize with his picture of "Plants" with an honorable mention awarded to Michael Keogh. Commercial art honors were . captured by best of show winner Russ Simmons. He won the first prize. Simmons also captured the honorable mention in this series. The art works were named WSC Annual Student Art Exhibit Poster" and "Mick" respectively. The last category was drawing.
