I will try to pass on some of my better experiences to the new students as to where the best places are to go to become active in this pass time. First, I will tell of my favorite. This locale is especially great because there is plenty of room for everyone to participate plus numerous places to stand and observe other misfortunes. This of course, is the Social Science Building. South, east sides On the with and east sides of the building are hills which l tnnphprWRrPArl I 1 1 - " -I Apricot-Pineapple, Peach, 1 Skylark Stone Ground Flour ' 1 Grope or Apricot Q 't", 33; "76; 39; akers Coconut Shrei ESPie Crust Mix IS bury 11-oz. fc tg. From a choice observation point in front of the building you can watch students slide, fall and if you are lucky, injure themselves enough to limp away, cursing the Buildings and Grounds Department. Another place which proves quite exciting is at the bottom of the steps which lead to the Science Building. From this vantage point you can watch students slip, try to catch themselves and fall, only a few of the strong survive this hill. The only thing which I have seen compare to this is the bobsled run at the winter Olympics. There is only one main difference - you are the bobsled. Last place The last place which I will point out is one of the most traveled and therefore where the most action is: north of the Fine Arts Building. Last spring one student made my entire stay at Weber worth while. As he was coming down the steps he started to fall. Trying to regain his balance he reached for the railing, missed, spun around, landed on his brief case and shot like a rocket down the steps. Freshmen this could be a preview of some of the fun you have yet to experience at Weber-I hope for once we can count this type of fun out. For at least the past three years there has been little if any improvement on the condition of the sidewalks alter a snowfall. Any action in the past has come after an article in the Signpost and only then. I hope that for once Buildings and Grounds can save my tailbone for a prof - not the cement. Duplications on sale now in UB lobby A total of 1,200 reproductions of pictures by renowed artists are on display and offered for sale in the West lobby of the Union Building at Weber State College. Sponsoring the event is the exhibits committee of the Union Building Activities Board. The prints are in a traveling exhibit from New York and have been or will be displayed on most Utah campuses, said Marilyn Burt, exhibits committee chairman. , The reproductions are of works by Cezanne, Dali, Van Gogh, El Greco, Andrew Wyethe and others. Many of the prints sell for $3, or three prints for $8, Miss Burt said. 'Horizons' brings DUP president Kate B. Carter, active civic leader and president of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers (DUP), is today's scheduled speaker for Horizons in Thought. Carter has served as DUP president for 32 years. She is also co-president of Days of '47, Inc., the organization that helps plan and coordinate all activities connected with the annual Utah celebration. Movie gets award The New York Film Critics Award for best picture in 1959 was "Ben Hur." Best male performance was given to James Stewart, from the movie-Anatomy of a Murder. Best female performance was given to Audrey Hepburn, from the movie "The Nun's Story." |
