According to Robert Farrell, manager of the Bonneville Chapter of the Red Cross, "there is a dire need to build up the blood credits for individuals and group donors with the community." The WSC campus drive qualifies Weber as a group donor. As such, those who donate are entitled to draw blood from the Red Cross blood bank free of charge. (There is, however, a fee assessed by the hospital for administering the fluid.) Normal fees for blood runs about $50 for the first pint and $25 thereafter, plus the ad-minstrative cost. This service is good anywhere in the United States. Mr. Farrell said prospective donors should know the following: 1. Individuals between the ages of 18 and 65 are eligible to donate. 2. Minimum weight is 110 lbs. Discover the World on Your SEMESTER AT SEA Sails each September & February Combine accredited study with educational stops in Africa, Australasia and the Orient. The decision for WSC women to follow the same line was made after eight WSC women students attended the annual Intercollegiate Association of Women Students in Chicago recently, said Laurie West, WSC AWS secretary. The Weber State group were among 400 women students to hear speakers such as Congresswoman Martha Griffith of Michigan, Gloria Steinem, women's movement leader and Barbara Franklin of President Nixon's White House staff. "The conference was not the stereotype of the women's liberation war conferences, but one that helped us to understand our potential for careers and relationships with men," Miss West said. "The theme 'Women and Men-partners in Humanity' summed up the overall message of the conference," she said. A display of litereature obtained at the conference is located in the WSC Union Lobby. Students attending the event in addition to Miss West were Kalleen Butters, Vicky Mather, Koy Smith, Ann Warlaumont, Janell Johnson, Tamera Weese and Ella Sanders. 2 years as a member of the Signpost staff covering all phases of student Government. The Lectures Committee is presenting the candidates, "in the flesh", to answer your questions about the issues that bother you most on campus, according to Tamara Weese, spokeswoman for the Lectures Committee. Yesterday's question and answer session was from the AWS candidates. Today's speak-out in the foyer of the Union Building will allow the winners of Friday's primary run-off in the race for Senator-at-large to explain their views and also give time to fielding questions from the floor. Tomorrow there will be a double program presented, according to Miss Weese. It will be the candidates for the financial vice president's office and the arts, letters and sciences Senatorial candidates will have a chance to explain their views on the issues concerning the present and future. Thursday, according to Miss Weese, will be for the legislative vice presidential and presidential prospectives. |
