Five departments will receive new chairmen. Dr. Levi S. Peterson has been selected to head the English department. Dr. Daryl L. Letham will lead the Physics department, and Dr. Benne D. Williams will head the Psychology department. Philosopher, Dr. Lawrence C. Evans has been named chairman of the department of Political Science and Philosophy, and Elden Liechty will direct the department of Economics. Current chairmen of the remaining ten departments will continue to serve in their positions for the '70-71 school year. Nine faculty members have been granted sabbatical leaves for the coming year. Among those on leave will be Dr. Alten B. Davis who recently won a government fellowship to participate in a post-doctoral program. Two shows left "Ice Station Zebra," this week's film will be shown tonight and tomorrow night. It is a tense story of an American nuclear submarine under the ice cap. It stars Rock Hudson. Cost is 50 cents. Washington Blvd. - THE FIRST CONCERT of the year will feature the Boxtops, performing tomorrow night in the gymnasium. The Boxtops have recorded such hits as the two million seller, "The Letter', "Neon Rainbow", and "Cry Like a Baby. Admission price will be $1.50 per person for main floor tickets and $1.00 for balcony seats. They may be purchased from the studentbody offices in the union building. D I orms nonor mowers Stansbury, Wasatch, and LaSalle dormitory halls are planning separate functions and the combined event of a luncheon and fashion show at $1.25 per person for mothers and their dorm dwelling daughters May 15, 16, and 17. Beverly Glen, dorm mother for Stansbury, explained that the girls from her hall would model clothing from Sears. The luncheon and modeling event will be held in the high rise cafeteria and there will be a guest speaker. Saturday night, the girls in Stansbury will cook for their mothers. Their weekend will end Sunday morning with religious services. The girls in Wasatch are planning a brunch at 9 a.m. Saturday. Following will be a program for the mothers. Sessions Harlan, Loney Graves, and Judy Romero accompaning on the piano will sing. Tommy Hoggs will follow with a solo performance. The welcome will be presented by Pam Bollstaedt, dorm president with Linda Thorpe, dorm mother, following with a special welcome. r : :: - 4 i i i ' i f v f A THE TWENTY-EIGHT member Voce Coed performance will be held on May 13 at 8 pm in the Fine Arts Little Theatre. The concert will be free to the public. This year's theme is "Serenade to Spring" directed by Mrs. Evelyn Harris. Among the songs to be rendered are Windy, Clair de Lune, The Creation, Quiet Nights, and Where is Love. Accompanist for the group is Sharon Austed. Acorns on sale Acorns will be coming just before dead week. A limited supply of yearbooks have been ordered with only 200 left to sell.
