Show January 22, 1965 SIGNPOST Page 12 ?JB(S BBflF Weber State Theatre will present its second Arena production of the season on Feb. 2, at 8:15 p.m. when it raises the curtain on Euripides' classic Greek drama, Medea, a play made famous in this day by Judith Anderson's portrayal of the Robinson Jeffers version. The production runs five nights, February 2 through Saturday, February 6. Curtain is promptly at 8:15 each evening. Tickets are available at the Fine Arts Center Box Office. General Admission is $1.50, while WSC students and faculty are admitted for 75c. The play marks the return to the Weber stage after an absence of 15 months or more by T. Leonard Rowley, director of this and a great many other plays. Having recently returned from a sabbatical leave to .raWS!' .:- 5 x 4 .iw-m,mmsi&iiii&ijsshiii fa&emd , -. &ssm Director T. Leonard Rowley the University of Minnesota, he now lacks only his dissertation to complete the Ph.D. degree. Although he has directed an impressive number of plays during the past eight years, Mr. Rowley is probably best remembered for the outstanding successful The Music Man, presented in 1963. Included in his roster of "regular" dramas are The Desparate Hours, Night Must Fall, starring Jane Darwell, The Death of A Salesman, and The Shrike. Mr. Rowley originated the summer children's theater program, which continues to function in cooperation with the Ogden City and Weber County Recreation Departments. Many young people will fondly recall Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, Cinderella, and The Sandalwood Box. Little Women was presented one summer in the Moench Arena, while The Teahouse of The August Moon initiated the stadium presentations. I s John M. Elzey Ruth Thatcher IMiiiiI The director has selected a particularly strong cast for MEDEA, one which combines the talents of student, faculty, and community actors. The role of Medea is taken by Mrs. Paul Thatcher and undoubtedly is one of the most difficult in dramatic literature. Mrs. Thatcher is making her debut on the WSC stage, but her background includes majoring in theatre at the University of Utah and later towing with a travelling reper tory company. She has also play ed with community theatre groups and Ogden Civic Theatre and is active with the Ogden Drama Club. She performed with M. Thatcher Allred, Associate Director of the Weber State Theatre, in my LADY'S DRESS, produced by the former Ogden Comunmity-Weber College Theatre.
