Do you know that the Weber state College Marching Band is just about the most commendable organization on the campus? Members of this band are sociable, cheerful, and amiable. They are behind Weber State all the way. They are unified. But above all, they have spirit. Talent? Yes, the WSC Marching Band is talented too. This band gives football fans one of the most spirited and energetic half time shows in the Mountain West. Our band is noted in many circles for its fast cadence and good delivery. Donald Threlkeld (Better known to band members as "Mr. 'T'.") directs the band with pride. He has been on the faculty as WSC for four years and director of the band for two. "Says Mr. T", "These kids are great." Three very talented and attractive girls hold positions of high status with band members and fans alike. Candy Draayer, Lynn Draney (this year's Miss Ogden), and Lyn Dowhower are the baton twirlers who dazzle quite a few eyes during the half-time performance. This year Ron Bennet and Don Darling are the drum majors. Ben-net is a native Texan and Darling a native Calif or nian and both are highly skilled and coordinated. At each game the half time show is based on a theme jointly decided upon by band members and Threlkeld. Music for the themes is arranged in Minneapolis by Mr. James "Red" McLeod. Shows are charted by go-getters Fae Patterson and Sandy Cox. Officers of the band are: Steve Carter, president; Frank Johnston, Vice president; Arlene Seegmiller, Secretary; Barry Coleman, Equipment Manager; and Dorsey Wheeler, Librarian.
