What causes tides ? What causes the seasons of the year? These are some of the fascinating questions that will be answered. William Ferguson, from Omaha, Nebraska, has spent much of his life studying and photographing the wonders of nature. He also is a renowned cartoonist and has a syndicated comic strip which appears in both U.S. and Canadian newspapers under the title of "This Curious World." Kiwonis Club Addressed by WSC Economist Dr. Dale R. Hawkins, Associate Professor of Economics at Weber State College, addressed the members of the Kiwanis Club yesterday at their luncheon in the Crystal Ballroom of the Hotel Ben Lomond. Dr. Hawkins discussed the contrast between the Free Enterprise System and Communism. In the course of his lecture, Dr. Hawkins pointed out how "the Free Enterprise System is the defender of the liberty and dignity of the individual." Man is able to grow and develop his many sides in an atmosphere of freedom. These many sides of man, referred to by Dr. Hawkins, include man's social, political, moral, physical, emotional, intellectual, aesthetic, spiritual and religious sides. Man may enjoy these values to the fullest extent under a Free Enterprise System, although those non-economic values are possibly far more important to us than all of the material possessions that we have. The highest standard of living of any nation in the world is possible under a Free Enterprise System as opposed to the subservants of the masses to the state underCommunism. Ludi Romani is tonight ! ! ! All Weber State women are expected to show up with their preferred men to enjoy an evening of music and dancing in a Roman atmosphere. The gala affair will commence at 9 p.m. in the Union Building Roman Ballroom. Dress is semi-formal. Music will be provided by the Star Dusters. The climax of the evening will come when the Preferred Man is named. Final voting will take place at the dance from among the finalists who are Doug Cox, Ed Freestone, Mike Gougler, John Hale, Jim Jacobs, Jim Mann, and Jon O'Dell. The Preferred Man and the first two runners-up will be announced at intermission. Gilts will be given to the top three and a loving cup awarded to THE Preferred Man. Intermission entertainment is going to be furnished by Paul Bingham, who played the lead in "Carousel" the past week, and Paulette Lichtenstein, who was also a lead in the musical of the past week, with Pam Chrisman.
