With four starters gone from last winter's Big Sky Conference co-champiorship team, Ccach Dick Motta must rebuild his cage squad around one returning regular and a late season starter. "I believe in luck, and the harder I work the luckier I gel." This paraphrased slogan has been on Dick Motta's locker room blackboard since he began his coaching career. With an intense desire to succeed and a thirst for work. Motta ha.s recorded a mark that would be difficult to match. Since Motta began coaching he has won seven conference championships in ten years (tie 1966). Two years he finished second and the other year his 22-4 team played without a conference affiliation. The former Jordan High ath lete, in never finishing below second place during his career, has certainly proved that luck and work go hand in hand. The first Big Sky Conference basketball competition found the Cats ranking second, and then in 1964-65 the Wildcats ran up their best record in history with 22 wins and 3 losses and captured the league crown, marking Weber State as a major basketball school. Senior guard Greg Harrop and junior forward Ted Bryant are candidates for all-ccnfererice honors. Harrop made the second team last year and Bryant was an honorable mention. Bryant has the potential to be one of the bei in the Rocky Mountain area, according to Coach Motta. He can s'.ic. jump and play defense. 'Ar excitingplayer."
