Band Broadcasts from Weber Stage Hill Air Force Band honored Weber College with its appearance on assembly Friday, at which time a fifteen minute radio program was recorded. The 549 Air Force Band was directed by Warrant Officer Russell F. Hayes. The dance band was directed by AFC Jay Zipp. Lt. Jackson was master of ceremonies. The radio program included marches played by the regular band, several numbers by the dance band, with information regarding the Air Force. The big attraction between recordings was imitations performed by Ernie So-boloff, attached to the special services unit at the Field. The performance was well received by the students and faculty and was considered one of the most outstanding assemblies presented this year. 'Big Plans' Fill LaDianaeda Log The La Dianaeda "Swabbies" met with the Phoenix men for a . skating party at Berthana Skating rink, followed by a dance at the Fourth Ward. A switch was pulled inasmuch as the fellows furnished the eats, consisting of barbecues and the works, and the gals kept things moving with their lively games. (Alas, no balloons or straight pins). The party was well attended, and the gals want to thank the Phoenix guys for the "second chance." It was really fun. There is lots of activity going on in the L. D. club these days. Preparations for the Easter Week, sponsored by the L. D.-ites. Plans are shaping up for the assembly, the dance, and the annual Easter breakfast, to be held on Easter morning. Plans for the membership banquet are in the making, also. Wardle Cops Honors; Reigns At ICAC Meet Chosen to reign over the ICAC ski meet at Snow Basin in behalf of Weber college was attractive Miss Nelda Wardle. Attendants were chosen by popular vote, also, and Darhle Poulter was announced as first attendant, with Donna En-drizzi and Marilynne Henrie tying for a close second attendant position.At the meet, Weber took first place in downhill racing and the slalom, with Richard Peterson rep. resenting them. Highly popular among students I and parents has been the Cellar Theater -; production, "Claudia." ! Those who have attended have I urged that students not miss this : performance. Saturday will conclude the week's run. The play is directed by John G. Kelly, and adapted to the Cel-: lar Theater by him. Stage manager is Jay Carlson. "Claudia", written by Rose Franken, centers around David and Claudia, a young married couple, who move into the country away from New York. Claudia is very homesick and attached to her mother, and as a result, finds it hard to face reality The struggle creates great tension within her, but gradually she -overcomes her problems and grows into adulthood a normal and understanding mother. Raelene Leaves WC For Wifely Duties Of much interest to the student body is announcement of the marriage of Raelene Sommers, student body secretary, to Douglas Brian. They are honeymooning in California. The bride withdrew from school and the secretarial post to take up wifely duties. Other student offi cers will carry the secretarial function. Sentimentally, in making the announcement, Prexy Val Lofgreen said no one else could do the job as Raelene has done, and wished her all the happiness in the world from the student body. Her lively personality has won her such honors as the AMS queen, freshman queen and a number of posts as attendant to other queens. The courtship took fire a year ago when Brian returned to the campus from an L. D. S. mission. Institute 'Capers' Called Success Amid h e a r t s and cupids, the members of L a m b a Delta and Delta Phi spent Valentine's Eve dancing to the theme of "Cupid's Capers." The occasion was the annual Sweetheart Ball, held in the college Institute. The decorations consisted of a huge red heart over the fireplace and cupids dancing gaily about the atmosphere. Charming Miss Betty Best, was chosen to reign over the affair by popular male membership vote, with Carolyn Skeen and Colleen Burnett attending. The dance was well attended and all who were there agree that the trading of dances, the unique decorations, the handling of preferences, and the refreshments contributed to the success of the evening. After Le-grande Lamb (the treasurer) accepted donations, the members proceeded to empty their plates. The meal was finished and some choice bits of humor were passed around by various persons Brice Roper, a former club president, was introduced by Fred Rabe. Mr. Roper gave an enjoyable speech which finished affairs for the night.
