Show Why don't some of our gold standard friends of the school of 25.8 grains ol gold, which they declare they want as the standard of money, point with pridt to Spain? It is a gold basis govern ment. Yet Spain has no gold. Specie payments have been suspended; and the bank of Spain has increased its note circulation during the past year some $35,000,000 and in the same time has expanded its loans some $60,000,000. Spanish bonds are gold bonds, principal and interest, and Spain can't pay the interest, much less the principal. This is the kind of a government that the gold standard element want in the United Unit-ed States but the masses don't want, and the latter will not permit it if the can have an honest say.
