Show Sneers at Berlin. Berlin, Aug. 29. The Czar's note was posted in the hotels and cafes this afternoon after-noon and is discussed rather cynically. A high official of the war office observed observ-ed that it would be a "good topic for a dull season." If the conference met the re was no doubt that France would demand the return of Alsace-Lorraine. Politicians sneer at such a proposal emanating from Kussia. The belief is, however, that all the powers are willing will-ing to attend the conference, in the belief be-lief that it will prove resultless, looking to the impossibility of agreement. |
