a new cement house washington washington feb 13 elders jos K nicholes and vasco M tanner of st george met with us in our sacra ment meeting sunday they gave some very interesting and timely in they were accompanied by miss evelyn thurston miss grace gates and wesley pearce who gave some exceptionally good music both vocal and instrumental there was a good attendance and the meeting was thoroughly enjoyed by all present after the close ot of the meeting elders nicholes and tanner gave some instructive and encouraging talks on poultry and garden raising there are several cases ot of were entertained at a party at mrs afton ballard a mr bir and mrs jay crawford Craw tord and mrs philetus jones left for st george thursday where they will remain for a week mrs fannie benhanan Beu atif SANTA CLARA santa clara feb 13 the boy scouts went to st george saturday afternoon and competed with the st george scouts in some of the scout games and basket ball two basket ball teams were chosen from the troop the smaller boys played the west ward scouts and were victorious the larger boys played with mr jarvis troop and were beaten two points our boys were victora ous in the following games crab and monkey race chariot race and the paul revere race we are very proud of our boys they seem to be putting the scout work to use in their lives ernest gubler met with a slight accident sunday he was on hia his way to st george about a halt half mile from town when his horse became frightened and ran into a barbed wire fence the horn of the saddle caught the top wire holding the horse ernest escaped with very badly scratched hands and some other cuts and scratches it might have been worse we have had some very cold weather the past two weeks there seems to be a considerable amount of enow snow in the mountains which gives us the assurance of water tor for another irrigation season the washington school basket ball team was here yesterday and played with our school boys the score was 26 to 29 in favor of washington the christian brothers are plastering for edward tobler who has built a new home on the santa clara bench miss bliss helen gubler has been here visiting
