Show proposed constitutional amendment no 2 SENATE JOINT VO B resolution proposing an amendment to section 7 article 11 ot tho con of the state of utah ins to tax rates or state purposes be it resolved by the of the state of utah two third of all the elected to each bious therein 1 that it I 1 proposed prop ofed to amend section 7 of article XIII of the constitution of the state ot utah 30 that the same will read as follows sec 7 the rate of taxation on prop erty for state purposes hall nee exceed S mills on each dollar of valuation to be apportioned as tollow si not to exceed 1 mill on each dollar of valuation for general state put poses not to exceed 3 mills on each dollar of valuation tor district school purposes not to exceed mill on each dollar ot valuation for elsh school purposes that part of tha state tax apportioned to high school pur poses shall constitute a fund to be called the aleh school fund and shall be apportioned to the cities and school districts bieh schools in he manner the legislature may pru vide and whenever the taxable property within the state shall amount to the rates shall not exceed on each dollar of valuation tau and four tenths mills tor general state purposes two tenths of one mill for elsh school purposes and such levy for district school purposes as will raise annually an amount which added to any other state funds available for district school purposes equals GO for each person of school age in the state shown by the last preceding school census unless a proposition to increase such rate or rates the rate or rates proposed and the time during which tha same shall be levied be first submitted to a vote of such of the qualified eloot ors of the state as in the year next preceding such election shall hava paid a property tax assessed to them within the state and the majority of those voting thereon hall vote in favor thereof in such manner as may bo provided by law so 2 the secretary of state Is directed to cause this proposed amendment to be published as required by the constitution and to be submitted to the electors of the state at the next general election in the manner provided by law bc S if approved by the electors of the state this proposed amendment shall take effect on tha ast 1st dr of january 1921 approved march IS lilt |
