Show SANTA CLARA OBITUARY santa clara sept 28 barbara Sta hell tobler better known as grandma tobler was born in Am erswell switzerland feb 14 1835 and died at santa clara utah sept 16 1920 she joined the church of latter day saints in her native country at the age ot of and soon thereafter emigrated to america she was a member of an ox team company in crossing the plains and suffered all hardships incident to that company on their perilous journey she arrived in the valley ot of the great salt lake in 1859 or 1860 and was there but a few low days when the call came from president brigham young for pioneers to settle this dixie country her husband and her self obeyed the call arriving here about the year 1860 she endured all hardships pertaining to the settlement of santa clara flour being so scarce that herself and husband would go to new harmony and cedar city to glean tha the krecl precious aolis heads of wheat that were scattered over the fields after the grain had been hauled and with this scant supply were able to sustain life until another harvest sister tobler in the early was wits an invalid for years and she has never been known to complain of her lot often trying to cheer and comfort those who were in similar circumstances she was the mother of eleven children six girls and five boys three girls and one boy having preceded her to the great beyond she also raised the children of two other motherless families tor for her husband jacob tobler she ba had d 69 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren and vas as also foster mother to a great number of other grandchildren and great grandchild ren the speakers at her funeral were john 0 hafen john S john hafen theodore graff and bp E R frie they all spoke of the excellent character of the deceased nho ho bore no stain during her months illness before she he passed away she was never known to complain but always exhorted her children to live honest and faithful lives sister tobler died as she had lived a faithful lat berday saint and has now gone to her reward A large cortege foli followed owed the remains to the cemetery and bro samuel offered the dedicatory prayer and the grave was covered with beautiful flowers showing the respect in which the deceased was held salt lake please copy mrs airs abilo adams and two children returned to their home at bunker effle after visita visiting some time tinte with relatives and friends n friends miss dora gubler accompanied them william gray joseph grat graf and two sons weldon and glen went to pine plus valley to work mr air and mrs airs samuel reber of At esquite nev were here visiting last week albert graf has had a ery tery bad band hands but Is now improving slowly |
