Show proclamation by mayor whereas the day of april commonly called arbor day Is fixed by statute as a legal holiday throughout the state ot of utah but owing to the mild climate of st george utah the season Is so far advanced that it is not possible to observe the day la in planting trees etc therefore by authority as mayor I 1 and by order of the city council I 1 proclaim saturday the esth day of march 1919 aa as arbor day tor for the citizens of st george city and request the people to observe this day by planting trees and vines fruit and ornamental flowers and lawns continuing the work BO so faithfully performed by the pioneers who so ably did their work that we of today are enjoying the fruits of their labors by ample shade and buclous fruit provided aa as a reward tor for the labor ot of their hands not looking to their own comfort but to future generations to receive the reward therefore as mayor I 1 ask the cooperation of the schools business interests and the people on this day to devote their time and means as those who have preceded them with an eye to the future beauty and pleasure of those who may follow as residents of 0 our pleasant and beautiful city ALBERTS ALBERT E MILLER I 1 mayor st george city attest GEORGE E MILES city recorder |
