Show AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF SEXTON PROVIDING FOR THE appointment SALARY OATH BOND AND ING THE DUTIES OF SAID OFFICE CREATING A CEMETERY maintenance FUND AND PROVIDING FOR THE HANDI ING OF SAME AMENDING SECTION 88 AND REPEALING sections 83 AND 84 OF CHAPTER 6 OF THE REVISED ordinances OF THE CITY OF ST GEORGE UTAH BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ST GEORGE UTAH SEC 83 sexton there is hereby the office of city sexton of the city of st george utah which office shall be filled by appointment of the mayor by and with the consent and concurrence of the city council SEC 84 OATH BOND the city sexton before entering upon the duties of his office shall subscribe ohp constitutional oath of office and shall furnish a bond in the sum of 00 payable to the city of st george and conditioned as provided by law SEC six SALARY tha city sexton shall receive as compensation for his services the sum of 85 00 per year for each lo 10 provided for by the cemetery maintenance fund and aired for by said sexton in addition to fees as now provided by ordinance SEC DUTIES it shall be the duty of the sexton to take charge of the city cemetery and improve the grounds thereof under the direction of the city council in addition to the duties presan bed for said officer in section 85 of the revised ordinances Ordin inces SEC SALE OF LOTS maintenance FUND the sexton is hereby empowered to sell lots in the city cemetery and to collect all dues arising from said sales and all so collected shall be by him covered into the city treasury as often as once a month the city council is hereby empowered to regulate according to luci tion the price nf eaid lots with a minimum price of 00 per lot provided that any person who has heretofore purchased a lot or who mav hereafter purchase a lot may pay to the sexton in addition to said purchase price at the rate of 00 per jot which payment shall be received reee ived and accepted by st george city as full compensation for the future per care and maintenance of said lot and which money shill be con averted into a reserve fund and placed at interest at not less than percent per annum or provided further that any person who has fore purchased nr who mav hereafter purchase a lot a div to the sexton the eum of 86 00 per annum for each of such lots so owned by him in addition to eaid liase price which said sum shall be received and accepted bythe city of st george aa full compensation for the care and maintenance of said lot for one year from the first day of april and in such case said fund shall be used directly for such purpose the bexton give to each purchaser a certificate of purchase for each lot or part of lot so purchased shoeing the description thereof and stating the price the purchaser paid and upon the presentation of slid certini cate to the mavor of 81 george city he shall issue to eaid purchaser a good and sufficient deed to the properly therein described the sexton shall also give to each person making a payment for the care and maintenance of any lot a certificate showing the facts he shall keep duplicates of all certificates issued by him as a part of the records of his fike all lots and of lots conveyed as in this section provided together with all improvements thereon shall bo exempt from execution and from taxation the ply ments mentioned in this section shall not be construed to be in payment of any of the services di ascribed scribed in sec tion 84 of the ordinances of this city this sud maintenance fund shall be in the cire of and invested by the mayor and city of this cita and said fund shall be kept intact and the principal there of ahill not be used for any purpose except for the purpose of investment to raise revenue for the maintenance and care of lots upon which it was paid and the interest derived shall be used for no other purpose thin for tuch care and SEC 88 FEES section 88 of the revved ordinances of the city of st george utah are amended to read as follows the for those requiring his serviced shall be follows for digging a grave leas than four feet in length and interment for digging a grave four feet in length or over and interment for conveying the dead from any part of the city to cemetery when called upon 83 00 making registry as required in section 85 of this chapter chi pter 50 cents for furnishing head or foot boards 81 00 for lot 00 for seeding lot to lawn 86 00 for eich lot SEC HEAD BOARDS AND TOMB STONES FENCES AND GATES the owners of lots the relatives of deceased persons buried in said cemetery are hereby required to erect headboards tombstones or other suitable monuments at the heads of graves with the name of the deceased plainly inscribed thereon and if any perron ne elects or fails to erect such headboard tombstone or other mutable monument for a period of three inantha from the dale of burial the sexton shall place a suitable headboard in proper position at the expense of the person owning or burying in said lot na person ehnle erect a fence corner post or other upon iino lot or lota in said cemetery or grade the ground or land thereof under he direction of tho ion who shall furnish the true lines of lots according to official survey and shall prevent any grading that would destroy the symmetry of the land section 83 and 84 of the revised ordinances of the city of st george are hereby repealed tins ordinance ahall take effect and be in force upon and after the date of its publication passed by the cit council of the cily of st george utah on the oth day of
