Show soldier boys leave the final quota of the first draft left here for camp lewis wash last friday morning there were six of them the seventh man of the quota le roy cox the only st george boy among the number being at salt lake city where he will join them those who left here were george chadburn and joseph E carpenter of central ferdinand f and wallace gray of santa t clara enoa enos elmer winder of i Sp Bonn ringdale gdale and george E owen of enterprise they were joined here by jos al alien allen of cane beds anz ariz who went up with them A number of friends and relatives of f the boys were here to bid them goodbye they are a fine bunch of boys t and they carry with them the best I 1 wishes for their welfare i while the boys were rec receiving eivin 9 final instructions here thursday af hernoon the band discoursed patri otic music outside of the courthouse 4 where mayor mcarthur and a large number of citizens had gathered to honor the boys after receiving their instructions the boys gather t ed on the courthouse steps and nere loudly cheered george E owen was appointed captain of the boys until they reach their deatina destination tion A short but very appropriate talk was avas made to the boys by co clerk woodbury to which captain owen i responded for the boya boys saying we depend upon their doing their duty loyally the bos were then i invited to attend a ball given in their honor in the gymnasium which they attended except the f santa clara clam boys who returned return pd home to attended a reception in their honor there the boys thora hughly enjoyed the dance |
