Show st george stake M 1 I asins fair chest the st george stake M I 1 A tair lair opened monday morning in the basement of the tab tabernacle ronaele and will remain open until tomorrow night ro describe the very fine exhibit ion full is beyond our time ind space tor for there is a great and most excellent display of all sorts of needlework woodwork paintings andara and art sketches curiosities etc etc etc it is indeed a remarkably fine exhibit and the building has been thronged with interested u gators all of whom are surprised and delighted with it it is 13 the first of what is intended as a yearly affair and judging from the success of the initial fair there is reason to I 1 alieve successive ones will be een even better ward had a fine ex hibit and alao also i large one fine needlework being the principal feature as it was in several of the other exhibits some choice con cin dies were shown made by mildred holt in this exhibit was shown a book case a combination book case and a desk that were exceedingly well made by heber hilt at the dixie academy some neat wood carving work by A P winsor III attracted attention A very fine exhibit of indian work was made by geo R I 1 und of bt st george consisting of 48 baskets of various kinds made by local in deans rugs bead work moccas ns arrows etc the st george west ward made a strong showing in seve several ballines ral lines there was i fine exhibit of indian pottery representing the te handicraft of five separate tribes of indiana indians the Nava hoes pimas aimas and zunia zunis avery A very fine and jarge large indian stone ax attracted much attention george worthen bad had a collection of walking sticks of extraordinary shapes natural na tive woods woodi as they grew articles were show it that thit had been in the same u finally firmly tor for over years V bible was vias shown that NN was 1 I printed in 1715 the print of which was wa 5 as clear as is though it had been printe prated d recently rugs of oriental pattern made of silk produced and arid finished in bt george were shown by mr J 17 woodbury wood bury the WJ W IV academy boys had a tine fine showing of woodwork made at the academy the exhibit of needlework which was exceptionally good was much admired it was mainly of the finer filter kind among the curiosities was nas a dutch clock substantially made and highly ornamented over one hun dred years old A very attractive tt feature was the display of old old and silver medals 10 f the tire former and five of the latter won by hon 4 thomas judd for dixie in compete ti live e horticultural exhibits in various 41 places hurricane Hur ward hid irid i I 1 ni nice ce ex hibit it bit of art needlework bottled fruit etc also some very interesting in dun dian relic among them a stone mill for grinding corn stone axes some very fine flint arrow tips etc A remarkably izod e iod showing was made by the dixie academy domes tic art department consisting of I 3 various kinds of tancy fancy needlework X wl ag etc etc A leeds ward had a nice exhibit of needlework ait art sketches and 44 11 in exceptionally fine display jy 0 tied fruit A large table neatly and substantially made at the dixie academy by fancis F ancis w j lean leany was much admired in this exhibit was shown a it rawhide quirt reins and hackamore beautifully braided and finished by albert jones of grafton toquerville W ward ird had an except tonally good exhibit in anly of art needlework an object of much it in this exhibit was vas a bid bcd t spread made 45 years ng ag ba a mrs j vilate savage from wool which she V T sheared from lier her own sheep clean clein j and ind carded it herself and arid dyed sev y eral colors from dyes obtained from native herbs and woods another object of interest was a pieced quilt lt made by mrs E R I 1 iamb amb in her year without the aid of glasses T 5 some very fine needlework by mrs delia della duffan duffin an invalid who nho laid on her back while he did it was ft als admired ad mired y st A george east ward had a very avery I 1 large and interest interesting irig exhibit aspeci a ally ily of fine needlework dresses etc s chere vi was as a strong showing of curl curi os and the bottled fruit and bread 4 shown was very good an exhibit that drew much attention was clin aa ton milnes art work in oil and water colors pen and ink sketches A etc mr milne is 11 quite and artist and the large collection of specimens of his work in tins this line was admired as much perhaps as anything else exhibited the dixie academy art exhibit was an extensive one and some sonie of the specimen specimens were very good indeed aa and much admired IV the home industries exhibit was excellent there were some as good brooms as are made anywhere from trie ane bloomington broom factory cotton batting dixie grown and none finer from the washington cotton mill ti it dixie dixie cream cheese from irom them the met dixie cheese chees e factory whose arti
