Show THE DIXIE m STAFF MIDWINTER MID WINTER SEMESTER NOVEMBER 15 TO MAY 19 the great call for the midwinter mid winter course has made it necessary for the school to give a full semesters work in nearly all lines offered by the academy the following are some of the subjects taught english agriculture orchard management domestic art domestic science wood work home economics dressmaking penmanship design chorus current history medieval history band orchestra instrumental oral expression physical education art theology general science since all indications are that the midwinter mid winter enrollment roll ment will be much larger than last year the school has prepared to accommodate all who apply entrance fee THE GIRL THE SCHOOL AND THE MATRON this is a comans womans never before have the results of womans comans freedom been more evident slie is more powerful today than ever before her hand has actually been on the steering wheel of affairs at times and at all times her influence has been felt she his kept the ideals of the nation high and her men pure and true the girls of the dixie academy have had freedom and opportunities which should make of them strong women and they have made the most of these opportunities they leave excelled in scholarship in social affairs and in student body activities iliev are on the whole a fine healthy mentally alert body A rood feeling of corradene com radene and fairness has been characteristic of their dealings with one another but now that our school is growing the responsibilities of the airia are becoming greater there are two birge divisions of the girls of the school those from out of tow n and those eliose homes are here the girls af st george are really hostesses they should welcome the outsiders and make them feel at home not only on school days but on sunday and saturday I 1 heard it said not long ago by a stranger in bt george this la a strange place the people seem so diffident about speaking to one ahe students are cordial on school davs but on sunday and sat arday one is almost shunned these outsiders need help companion hip and sympathy not amt allow t liques to form dont be proud and self centered that you can not appreciate good in others and see their needs this is a big opportunity at your door for service and if you seize it you will strengthen in I 1 unify your abdy the girls ft ho come to st george and go into strange homes should make themselves at home in the best sense of the word they should appreciate what 13 dune for them and nut do anything the would not do at home avoid beyert the appear inie of evil that you m ay iy not be dont you allow cliques to form either do not hold aloof but come half way in getting acquainted if you will cooperate with the home girls vou will be a power making for the highest ideals health and service the matron whom I 1 had almost forgotten ia simply the hub of this wheel of girls she is part of them and with them always she want to have her finger on the aube of the girls hvid thit she may know of their troubles joas and plans come to her with any of your problems no how small and she will do what she can ache would be the mother in need of the girls of the school our dais rooms are filled with enthusiastic students ready to reap their share of the intellectual harvest while eacle of the academy is ready and anxious to assist every boy and girl in school along physical moral spiritual and social lines As we look into the faces of our principal and teachers and listen to their sentiments we make stronger resolutions to be stronger men and women and determine to make their principles the guiding star of our lives their elivea and council are inspirations to the students and make all of us stronger to meet ohp dixie are striving to make 1915 16 the banner beir of the school the college students are anaus to do their part to win success and will be found very diligent workers in every sive plan that is put forth our class has been organized and our officer are very conscientious in the performance of their labors we expect to take part in all the contests of the year both physical and intellectual the greit aim of our class is to do our very bet be t in everything w e attempt with the spirit that we are the ones who derive the greatest benefits and to prove that we fully appreciate the
