| Show san diego wants western terminus grand junction A terminal site and most of tho land for ards station and rights of wa for the southwestern pacific railto id which rolla clapp declares will be constructed in dl t and 1915 from here to san diego hao been procured by coin mattics of local business men A visit from mr clapp 13 expected in a few davs when he will inspect the properties that hive already been procured the road which mr clapp says is already financed ft ill go through iron and washington counties in utah and will be primarily a coal and iron road to the lower california coast the main shops and offices will be located here it is understood san diego wants to be the western terminus of the south estern pacific r which is pr posed to be built from grand junction colo to the southwest pacific coast representing the san diago arizona railroad and several commercial badiei of san diego edward fletcher a business man of san diego arrived in salt lake yesterday and held an all day conference with rolla E clapp consulting engineer of the southwestern holding company in reference to the project A meeting hilll be held in san diego within a few days to plan a connection for the southwestern pacific with the san diego L arizona railroad which john D spreckels is building from san diego to yuma anz through the imperial valley the san digo arizona will shorten the distance between the imperial valley and tidewater by half and it is the intention of san diego to ask the southwestern pacific promoters to connect with it so as to give san diceo direct connections with taci ast more than has been expended in the construction of the spreckels ela road and more will be expended during 1914 to complete the line it i said mr fletcher brought with him corroboration of the building of the southwestern pacific and of the steel mills which are planned for washington county utah it is the desire to have the the mills and the through traffic lc of the southwestern pacific corned to san diego that prompted the commercial bodie of san diego to send a representative senta tive to salt lake to arrange a conference with representatives of the southwestern holding company according to mr fletcher herald republican after all is said and done the only accomplishments that bring real pleasure are those which bring joy to others |
