| Show the stake academy work on tho the stake academy continues in with ith right good will and the beautiful structure is showing up to better advantage every day it will be a grind grand monument to those who hive have helped in its erection when it is 13 completed an object of use and ind be luty that will attract many here for tuition from outside points and give educational advantages to the students of the stake who would otherwise have bane to go to outside schools at greatly increased expense ground was anas broken for the foundation of the building october 31 1909 and work has been continued on it from that date until the present time although at times verylie very little progress has been made oa 05 owing ing to the fact that the building is being erected mostly by voluntary contributions and during the summer the people ba have v e been busy in their various a avocations this paper has from time to time stated how work was progressing and has given descriptions of the class of work used in its construction but we may repeat some of this for the benefit of those who may not have liae read the articles the foundation rests upon cement concrete piers four feet wide and two tino feet deep the basement walls are constructed of black volcanic rock aid laid in cement morter the upper storys arc am being constructed of gray sandstone pitch ashler style the sandstone being obtained from a quary mar washington six miles distant the walls of the budding building are nearly completed to the top of he the first story above the basement and the building ought to be ready to receive the beautiful steel roof within two months if the present rate of work is continued nine tenths of the rock required is now on the ground considerable of it reads to be laid the amount expended to date is 13 but funds are ire needed to carry on the work and the committee makes an urgent request for all to aid in getting the building completed so that it may be ready for ue next september the committee is especially in need of cash as several thousand thou dollars will bo be required to pure purchase bae finishing lum ber shin shingles gleA doors ivin windows doiN s paints beating plant etc etc the value and advantage of having baying such a school here la is generally conceded and the appeal for help and funds made by the committee v i not likely to pass unheeded for it t is believed that all who can cart will help to their utmost to lush the building to comp completion letlon so that returns will not be dela delayed Ned |
