Show dudley THAT proposition assuming to build railroad lund to st george in two years victor E huntzicker of the southern utah co came in from salt lake city sunday on business connected with alie proposed dudley railroad rail roid from lund to st george mr huntzicker met with a number of citizens in the lyceum monday night and explained alie situation he said that mr dudley and his associates had been working on the proposition right along and were now in shape to take up the matter and push it but they wanted the operation cooperation co of the citizens of washington county and were willing to modify as far ag possible the agreements arrived at at former meetings mr huntzicker asked for expressions of opinion from citizens and said he would fonward same to mr dudley the general opinion seemed to be that the bonus asked and free rights of way etc should bo reduced to and free rights of avay etc to bo paid in labor and eliat the company should furnish paid work to each individual to the amount of his donation so th it it bo a half cash liala labor proposition this was eipl lined to be necessary as while many people acro willing to donate the labor their circumstances such eliat they could not afford to feed their teams and families while performing the labor the time asked for the commencement and completion of alio work two and five icara respectively ively was also objected to as too long and it was proposed that work start on alie project railroad from lund to st george not later than jan and be completed by jan 1 1913 mr said lie mr dudley co would agree to all these conditions mr huntzicker was anxious to have alie matter pushed through at once but this was shown to be impossible as so many of the leading men of the county were out on cattle roundups and would not bo home until july 1 it was finally decided to call maas meetings in the several towns of alie county aa soon as tho men had returned to appoint delegates to a county contention to be held to consider the matter after if favorably acted upon by the citizens an agreement should be drawn up citizens and mr dudley and placed in escrow in the bank of st george for a period of 90 das at the expiration of which time it would either be accepted by dudley co or rejected and alie matter entirely dropped mr hunsacker Hun left for salt lake city this morning having previously written to mr dudley explaining alio situation in full |
