Show Legion Auxiliary Hails Program As One Of Best of the Year Hailed as one of their most excellent ex-cellent programs of the year was the recent session of the American Legion Auxiliary. Lester Keate Post No. 90. The program was under the direction of the social welfare committee, with Rosamond Rosa-mond Snow Westover, chairman, Mrs. Mattie W. Ruesch, recently appointed Child Welfare supervisor for Washington county, and Miss Tillie Winsor, county supervisor of elementary schools as the speakers. Both covered their respective res-pective fields with capability and interest, Mrs. Ruesch discussing, "Child Welfare" and "National Defense", and Miss Winsor stressing stress-ing cooperation in meeting the program of the school child to avoid the pitfalls that are responsible res-ponsible for the problem child. Both subjects are timely and were greatly appreciated. Miss Myrtle Henderson's speech choir responded with "Victory" by Charles R. Mabey and a humorous humor-ous number, "Learning the National Na-tional Anthem". Ruth Marie Pickett Pick-ett and Esther Judd gave a vocal duet, and Mrs. John J. Phoenix Jr., introduced by Madge Cannon, Can-non, read "The Highway for Americans". Refreshments were served at the conclusion of the program, followed by an hour of table games. |
