Show Farmers Told of Possibility of Sending Their Cream-Milk To Las Vegas i Creamery Official Offers Dixie Farmers High Rate For Sweet Cream Washington county farmers, who are interested in th dairying possibilities, pos-sibilities, met in the County Courthouse Wednesday night, to hear E. J. Warren, official of the Rancho Grande Creamery company, com-pany, of Las Vegas, present them with a plan for sending cream and milk to Las Vegas. It was explained by Mr. Warren War-ren that Reed Stevens had contacted con-tacted him and asked him to come to St. George for the meeting meet-ing and present the company's plan. He proposed that in order to try out dairying in Washington county that the farmers send their sweet cream to his company at Las Vegas. He declared that the company would pay them five to seven cents a gallon over the Los Angeles market which he said was usually higher . than the Salt Lake market price. He also declared that they would be glad to buy fresh milk from Dixie farmers if they would bring their dairy herd conditions up to the sanitary standards required re-quired by the company in order that they could sell, the milk in Las Vegas. In his opinion they would be able to handle all of the local milk that could be sent them for sometime to come. As a result, of the discussion the . dairymen decided to send a committee com-mittee to Las Vegas on next Monday Mon-day to see if a plan couldn't be worked out with company officials. It is the hope of the dairymen that a workable plan can be put into operation in the near future. |
