Show HURRICANE Mrs. Thomas Hinton (AUNT MIX A) Reporter Clifton Wilson AS has finished his boot training at San Diego and is home on an eight-day leave. James Del Stanworth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Stanworth, left Thursday to join the U. S. Navy. Mrs. James Cornelius, the former for-mer LaPriel Isom, and two children, child-ren, have gone to San Francisco to 'be with Mr. Cornelius, who is stationed there. Mrs. Lloyd Olds, the former Darlene Demille is in San Francisco Fran-cisco visiting her husband, who is stationed there. Alleri Ballard RM2C is home on a 30-day leave from the Pacific area. He has been across the "Pond" twice and is glad to be home. Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Covington received word from their son, Delbert, who is in Antwerp, saying say-ing that he has been advanced to the rating of corporal. He has seen plenty of action and has been wounded. A piece of shrapnel shrap-nel pierced his lung, but he is okeh now and driving a truck. Arthur Crosby S2c visited last week in Hurricane with Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Larson. He was re cently at Pearl Harbor. Pvt. Stanley Hinton returned Monday to Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. John Humphries had a surprise letter Sunday from their son, Pfc. Willard Humphries, Humph-ries, the first in three .months. He is well, but has been unable to' write sooner from his hideout in the hills of the Philippines. Waldo Hirschi, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claud Hirschi left Monday for induction into the Navy. Mrs. Ada Imlay received a letter let-ter last week from a Tyler, Texas serviceman, who has just returned home after being a prisoner in Germany. Upon his arrival home he wTote Mrs. Imlay saying he was a buddy of her son, Mark and was flying with him when his plane was shot down. He bailed bail-ed out and has never heard of the plane or any of its crew. Wilden Tweedie Slc, who has been home on a 30-day leave, has gone to Great Lakes, 111. for further training. Pfc. Rodney Burgess, husband of Elizabeth Lee Burgess, has been home on a two week's furlough. fur-lough. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lee received re-ceived a letter recently from their son, Pfc. Victor Lee who is on Christmas Island, urging them to bottle plenty of apricots and cherries, since he plans to be home in a few months to help devour them. He is located on a farm and they are getting ripe tomatoes and all kinds of fresh vegetables and have plenty of milk, cream, butter and eggs. They had just killed five pigs weighing 240 lbs each, and have 35 milk cows as well as ducks and chickens. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Barber have returned from a honeymoon trip to the Pacific Northwest. James Jennings left Friday for Logan where he will spend the summer. Guests over the week end of Pres. and Mrs. Elmer Graff were Mr. Graffs father, Albert Graff and Sylvan Graff of Santa Clara, a sister, Mrs. Frank Reber of Las Vegas, and Mrs. Graff's mother. Mrs. Betsy Hardy, and Mr. and Mrs. Harlcy Adams of Bunker-ville. Bunker-ville. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stout who have been visiting relatives in Hurricane returned Wednesday to their home in Salt Lake City. Their grandson, Ronald Haywood returned with them to visit for two weeks. John L. Haywood went to Pan-guitch Pan-guitch Monday to attend the funeral fun-eral services of his brother-in-law, Frank Judd. Mrs, Wesley Murray, the former Carol Jackson, and small daughter, daugh-ter, Mary Amelia are visiting her mother, Mrs. Tom Stratton. Mrs. Clark Mclntyre is in Salt Lake City for medical attention. Verdcll Hinton is employed by Rocky Mountain service in Las Vegas. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lewis of Salt Lake City have come to Hurricane Hur-ricane to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Humphries entertained 20 children and grandchildren grand-children at their home over Sunday. Sun-day. The guests were Rex Humphries Hum-phries of Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Humphries and two daughters of Garficfd; Mr. and Mrs. James Humphries unci daughter daugh-ter of Vernal; Mr. and Mrs. Har- old Robb of Cedar City; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Wilson and two daughters of Pioche, and Mrs. George Imlay and children of Hurricane. Hur-ricane. Mrs. Alvin Durfee of Salt Lake City, formerly of Hurricane, is here visiting her many firends. Mrs. James Jepson left last week for Salt Lake City with her daughter, Mrs. Hubert Smith, who spent several days here visiting. visit-ing. They took Larry Jepson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Jepson, with them for medical treatment. Mrs. Al Hartley visited last week in Salt Lake City with her daughter, Mrs. Jack Larson. The South ward Primary officers offi-cers went out to Short Creek on Monday to meet with the branch Primary officers of that organization. organi-zation. George Stevens has purchased the home and property of Mrs. Susie Campbell, who is moving to Salt Lake City to make her home with her son, Vernon. After visiting for two weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Wright, Miss Elva Wright has returned to her employment in Glendale, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dayley of Las Vegas spent Sunday visiting in Hurricane, going on to Pan- guitch ' Monday. Mrs. Ora Williams has been appointed Registrar of Vital Statistics Sta-tistics for the -east end of Washington Wash-ington county. She and her daughter daugh-ter Glenna Rac, visited over last week end in Las Vegas with Mr. and Mrs. Jake Williams and daughter, Yvonne who was home from Long Beach. Mrs. Doris Chamberlain and daughter spent the week end in Summit visiting Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Chamberlain, parents of her husband. Miss Georgia Taylor has returned re-turned from Salt Lake City where she spent a month visiting her mother, Mrs. Icie Teeplcs. Miss Utahna Stanworth has gone to Las Vegas where she has employment. The Victory Cookers 4-H club entertained their mothers Wednesday, Wed-nesday, June 20. Waffles, muffins and hot chocolate were served. A group of Hurricane's young married couples held an outing in Zion Park Thursday, and a chicken chick-en dinner at the Crandall farm Saturday night honoring Mrs. Minnie Durfee, who is here visiting. |
