Show Pine Valley Outing Draws Largest Crowd In History Of Park Service Program Includes Speakers Of Outstanding Ability As Well As Sports Program; Fishing Over 1000 people registered Monday. July 4 and over 600 Sunday, Sun-day, July 3 at Pine Valley tcs bring the registration to the highest high-est point ever recorded. This hi-ta. registration was due in a big part to the two-day Pine Valley Day-program Day-program sponsored by the stockmen, stock-men, sportsmen, forestry department depart-ment and county planning boan, declares Anson B. Call, publicity-director publicity-director for the committee in charge of the two-day event. While the program was primarily pri-marily educational. Mr. Call pointed point-ed out that a sports program was also sponsored in addition to th? recreational activities provided in this area. Outstanding Speakers The program included such outstanding out-standing speakers as Blain Betet-son, Betet-son, Dixie forest supervisor: Freii W. Merrill, Agricultural Trade relations, re-lations, Inc.; James Hooper, secretary sec-retary of Utah Wool Grower's association; as-sociation; Orange Olsen. representing represent-ing the Forest Sendee; Reed Baily, forest service; F. C. Dixon, grazpr Utah District number 4: Naomi Barlow, state extension assistant: food specialist; Pres. Harold li. Lee. Church Security program-Orval program-Orval Hafen, Washington county-attorney; county-attorney; W. E. Carroll, dean of agriculture, U.S.A.C. and R. IL. Storms the first two days upset the general plans as outlined, but the last two days were filled with events. Of particular particu-lar interest, states Mr. Smith, was the two-day explorer trek for the older boys of the camp. Approximately Approxi-mately 50 boys were included in this trek which brought them within close view of the Painted Desert which, declares Mr. Smith was the real highlight of the encampment en-campment for this group of senior scouts. Mr. Smith will leave St. George the latter part of the week for the Mt. Timpangoas encampment, planning to be absent for two weeks in connection wtih this and other scout events. |
