Show PETTY MOTOR CO. CLOSES DEAL ON CEDAR GARAGE A deal closed last week whereby where-by the Petty Motor company garage gar-age business was sold to George H. Lutz, of Caldwell, Idaho, who took over the management of the garage business, equipment and stock was sold for a consideration consider-ation of $22,000, with Charles B. Petty retaining the building and used car lot adjoining. This property was leased to Mr. Lutz for a period of three years. Mr. Petty will take over a Ford Agency in Salt Lake City, probably in the Sugar House district. dis-trict. The sale does not include any new or used cars nor notes or accounts receivable, and Mr. Petty will remain in Cedar from 30 to 60 days to dispose of what cars he has on hand and to clear up accounts, etc. He expects to be permanently located1 by early fall, at which time he will move his family to Salt Lake City. The name of the garage will be changed from the Petty Motor company to the Cedar Motor Sales company. Charles B. Petty came to Cedar City in 1926, and for several years he operated, the Cedar Motor Mot-or company and the Petty Motor company. Later he disposed of the Cedar Motor company, now the Jones Garage and continued to operate just the one plant. During his ten years in Cedar City he has employed an average of 30 men, and with the exception excep-tion of the two worst years of the depresssion, has sold an ever-age ever-age of one new car every day. During that time he has built the businses up to a point where it is the leading Ford Agency in the state, out side of Salt Lake City. Mr. Petty started in the automobile auto-mobile business in 1917 in Hurricane. Hur-ricane. In 1918 he formed a partnership with Stanley Brad-shaw, Brad-shaw, which continued for S years as the Hurricane Garage, with the Ford Agency. In 1926 they secured the Chevrolet Chev-rolet Agency for Iron and Washington counties, and split the partnership. They decided cn which agency to take by the toss of a coin, Petty got the Ford and came to Cedar. Bradshaw followed a couple of years later, and they have developed the dealership in Southern Utah-Iron Utah-Iron County Record. |
