Show Hope Seen For Early Action On Snow Canyon Road, States C. of C. President i County Commissioners Agree To Furnish Men. Reber. president of the St. George Chamber of Commerce. Com-merce. This is one of the Projects that the directors are concentrating concentrat-ing their efforts on in the hope to get action this year. "At the present time".' said President Reber. "the project is in the hands of the Grazing Board, it is necessary to receive their okeh before the CCC boys, under the supervision of Supt. Pan Thompson can go ahead with the work. "The county comniissioneers have agreed to man the heavy equipment with experienced men and to also furnish gas and oil for operations. Superintendent Thompson Thomp-son states that he will soon have twenty-five men that would be available for this work if the Grazing Graz-ing Board sanctions the project." Reports indicate that there is a possibility of having a camp at Veyo during the winter months, and if this becomes a reality, there is a possibility ' of getting men from this camp to work on the road from the other end. In speaking of the problem facing the Grazing Board, Chamber of Commerce Com-merce directors declare that they realize that this work is not strictly strict-ly the te ,Ut--the group would like, but they point 'out that it is one of the most important pieces of work facing this section and thereby urge that the board give it every consideration. To Invite League It is the plan of the directors and other civic club organizations of this city to extend a welcome to the Municipal League to hold next year's convention in this city.. The League is meeting at Price this year and local officials are in attendance. Local leaders plan to send telegrams to be presented to the organization by Mayor Albert E. Miller, who is in attendance, asking that they consider this city as a possible convention point for their next year's convention. Recently similar invitations were extended to and accepted by the Peace officers. This will mean that St. George will be the hosts to the Peace officers of the state and will provide a fine medium of presenting the progressive spirit of this community to an important group of people from various sections sec-tions of the state, declare those who are connected with this work. |
