Show Bridge Dedication Program Outlined By Committee; To Replace Peach Day Celebration Planned For First Tart of October; To Invite Governor Henry H. Blood HURRICANE. Utah Thf Hurricane Hur-ricane Chamber of Commerce heid a special meeting and banquet last Thursday evening. August b. pertaining per-taining to the Bridge Celebration and Homecoming to be held at Hurricane, which is to replace the usual regular Fe-ach Day Celebration. Celebra-tion. Due to the deficiency of fruit this year. Hurricane is unable to hold its Peach Day event but plans to replace it by this celebration which will be in commemoration of the completion of the bridge. The committee chosen is comprised com-prised of Glen Williams. Wayne Hinton and Clifton Wilson. This celebration is to be held sometime during the first ten days of October. There will be one day of the celebration. Following is a tentative program outlined by the committee. Invitations have beer, extended to two or three High School Bands from various visiting or neighboring neighbor-ing communities tc come and participate par-ticipate in a Band Parade which is to be the first part or. the day's program in the morning. Later there will be a ceremony at the bridge about ten o'clock, which will consist mainly of the acceptance accept-ance of the bridge by the officials. Governor Henry H. Blood and a number of State Road Officials are expected to be present at the ceremony and celebration. Also at ten o'clock in the morning there will be a soft-ball game, (the teams which are to be selected later). At 2 o'clock ir. the afternoon after-noon there will be other various activities in the line ol sports. There will be prizes awarded for the following activities or events: 100 yard dash. 440 yard relay. Baseball game, (teams to be selected at a later date. In the early evening there will be a melon bust; to which a cordial cor-dial invitation is extend to the early former Dixieites. There is an interesting and entertaining fight card being outlined, the fights will commence at eight o'clock in the evening. Immediately following the fights there will be a dance, to be held down on the bridge. |
