Show Misunderstanding Between Stockmen and StateExplained State Committee Formed, Has Representatives From All Interested Groups; Camps Praised for Help Given A misunderstanding regarding the $100,000 which was asked by the state to help stockmen of this state is prevalent, states Wayne Gardner, advisory board member. In the first place, he reports that there hasn't been any of the money received to date and the government has only appropriated $40,000 instead of the $100,000 asked for. Mr. Gardner and J. H. Baldwin, forest ranger, dropped in at the News office to explain the situation situ-ation in so far as the recent storm has affected the stock interests inter-ests and to tell of the work that has been done of the various agencies. In regard to this money appropriated ap-propriated by the government they explained that the money was only for use in bringing aid to men and herds and was not to be used in the purchase of feed or materials. Those desiring to secure money with which to purchase feed should contact the various agencies of the government govern-ment that have been set up for this purpose. A number of representatives rep-resentatives of these agencies have been in this section recently. re-cently. The rehabilitation division with Willis R. Dunkley in charge, is also helping in this emergency. The Governor of Arizona has promised (assistance to the Arizona Ari-zona stockmen, they said. Stale Committee A st;ite committee with headquarters head-quarters in Suit Lake City was recently formed. This is comprised of a representative of the forest department, soil conservation, Division Di-vision of Grazing, State Road commission and the various state livestock organizations. With this group jt is hoped to secure lull cooperation between the government, govern-ment, state and stockmen. With the breaking up of the sever weather, the group feels that there should be very little trouble in the future. The gfaip stales that this is undoubtedly the most severe se-vere storm that stoikmen of this section has ever had to cope with and it is their opinio; that it the stockmen had not had the help of the various ogencies that there would have been very few-herds few-herds left. "It was just our good fortune." said one of the members of the board, "that we had the camps in this locality. We have received one hundred per cent cooperation coopera-tion from oil of the various camps and the departments which they represent. Also from the various governmental agencies and we wish to express our appreciation appreci-ation for this assistance." |
