Show Christian Tschntz, Gardner, Long In Work One person, not to be forgotten, is Christian Tschntz, the assistant gardner on the Temple grounds, who has served in this capacity for more than half a century, as well as with the custodian and caretakers of the heating plant. Coming from the old country with mother when iust a young man, he was found to be dependable depend-able and trusty and was given this appointment. He" worked under Charles W. Bennett, early English gardner. who took such pride in dressing and beautifying the grounds around this building with the help of his two sons, Stephen J Bennett, and C. W. Bennett Jr. He has done like service under George W. Worthen. David H. Cannon Jr., Joseph W. Webb, and George Brooks Jr. and he has personam' per-sonam' known every president of the Temple including Wilford Woodruff. It was from his savings, earned at this work, that he was earned at his work, that Christian Tschntz was enabled to endow the department of the Dixie junior college, which now bears his name. Though in his seventies he is still a faithful sen-ant on the Temple grounds. |
