Show City Ordinance AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AMEND-ING SECTION ONE OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING RATES TO BE CHARGED WATER USERS OF THE CITY OF ST. GEORGE, WASHINGTON WASHING-TON COUNTY, STATE OF UTAH, REPEALING SECTION 389, CHAPTER 3, TITLE 19, OF THE 1930 REVISED ORDINANCES ORDIN-ANCES OF THE CITY OF ST. GEORGE, AND ALL ORDINANCES ORDIN-ANCES OF THE CITY OF ST. GEORGE AND ALL ORDINANCES ORDIN-ANCES BY-LAWS AND REGULATIONS REGU-LATIONS IN CONFLICT WITH THIS ORDINANCE," passed by the City Council of the City of St. George on the 6th day of July, 1935. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ST. GEORGE: SECTION 1. That Section One of an Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance Establishing Rates to be Charged Water Users of the City of St. George, Washington County, State of Utah, Repealing Section 389, Chapter 3, Title 19, of the 1930, Revised Ordinances of the City of St. George, and all Ordinances Ordin-ances of the City of St. George and All Ordinances, By-Laws and Regulations in Conflict with This Ordinance," passed by the City Council of the City of St. George on the 6th day of July, 1935, be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: SECTION 1: That in conformity conform-ity with the Constitution and Laws of the State of Utah, and particularly parti-cularly Chapter 22, Laws of Utah, 1933, Second Special Session, commonly com-monly known as the "Revenue Bond Act of 1933", the following schedule of rates to be charged users of water of the City of St. George water system is hereby established, and such rates are hereby declared to be reasonable and uniform with respect to class for the type of service to be rendered, said rates to be charged for said services being as follows: All water measured through meters for domestic and culinary purposes and for schools and nonprofit non-profit public institutions shall be paid for at the rate of Forty cents per one thousand gallons for the first seven thousand five hundred gallons; Fifteen cents per one thousand gallons in excess of fifteen fif-teen thousand gallons and up to one hundred thousand gallons; and Twelve and a half cents per one thousand gallons in excess of said one hundred thousand gallons up to one million gallons and six cents per one thousand gallons in excess of said one million gallons, provided provid-ed that there shall be a minimum charge of 51.00 per month for each meter used in any family, school, or other non-profit public institution, institu-tion, provided that a minimum of $1.00 per month shall be collected for each dwelling even though more than one dwelling shall be served by one meter. All water measured through meters for hotels, garages, barber shops, offices, stores, cafes, markets mar-kets or other business places shall be paid for at the rate of Forty cents per one thousand gallons for the first seven thousand five hundred gallons; Twenty cents per one thousand gallons in excess of said amount and up to one hundred thousand gallons and Twelve and a half cents per one thousand gallons gal-lons in excess of said one hundred thousand gallons up to one million gallons and six cents per one thousand gallons in excess of said one million gallons, provided that there shall be a minimum charge of $1.00 per month for each meter used; Provided that in case one meter is made to furnish water for more than one building, then a minimum charge of S1.00 per month shall be collected for each building. The above minimum monthly rate shall be due and payable on the first day of each month at the office of the City Treasurer of the City of St. George and the amount due in excess of seven thousand five hundred gallons per quarter shall be due and payable quarterly on the first days of March, June. September, and December. De-cember. If water bills are not paid on or before the tenth day of said months, a penalty of ten (10'r) percentum of the amount thereof shall be added to such bills; and if such bills are not paid on or before the thirtieth day of said months, the water service will be discontinued and a charge of SI. 00 will be made for reconnecting the same. It shall be unlawful after water service has been disconnected disconnect-ed for any person to reconnect same without the consent of the City Council; any person violating this provision shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be punished punish-ed by a fine of not less than Ten ($10.00 dollars, or more than Twenty-five ($25.00) dollars. SECTION" 2: An emergency existing, and it being deemed in the interest of the peace, health and safety of the City of St. George that this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its adoption, approval and publishing, it is hereby ordered that said ordinance shall take effect immediately im-mediately upon its adoption, approval ap-proval and publication aforesaid. Adopted by the affirmative vote of a majority of the City Council of the City of St. George in the County of Washington, State of Utah, and approved by the Mayor thereof this 9th day of May, 1938.
