Show Brigadier General Visits Leeds CCC Camp Brigadier General Walter - C. Sweeney, Commander of the Fort Douglas District, visited Company 585, on Monday August 23. General Sweeney was shown about the reservation re-servation by 1st Lieut. Lawrence J. Alexander, commanding officer of company 585. The general was impressed by the great improvement improve-ment of the camp since his last visit on June 14, and complimented Lieut. Alexander upon its fine appearance. Company 585 Soft Ball Victors Twice in one week Company 585, has triumphed in soft ball. Last Wednesday, August 25, in a game played at St. George with Company Com-pany 2558, the Leeds team won a hard fought victory of 6 to 5. The St. George team had shown an unexpected improvement and almost al-most took the Leeds lads. On Sunday, August '29, in a game played at Leeds, with the St. George Town Team, Company 585 was again victorious with the score of 5 to 4. Worthen and Morris Brooks of Provo and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mathis and sons Ivin and Murray from Price. Mrs. Anne Macfarlane returned last Wednesday from a visit with relatives and friends in Price, and . Cedar City and other Northern Utah Cities. E. B. Snow has spent the past week in Salt Lake City, visiting. |
