Miss Venice Cottam, daughter of Mrs. Edith Brooks and the late Heber Cottam, formerly of St. George, is accorded honors this spring at the B.Y.U., as Banyan Sweetheart. TV Mrs. William Brooks entertained entertain-ed the St. George postoffice employees em-ployees and their partners at a birthday anniversary dinner and party, honoring Mr. Brooks, at their home last Saturday evening. The guests presented Mr. Brooks with a token of esteem and appreciation. ap-preciation. The evening was spent in games. Gerald John Poole left for his home in Indiana last Friday. Mrs. Christena Jones, mother of Mrs. Duke Sutton, returned to Salt Lake City last Friday evening even-ing after visiting here for two weeks. Creston Woodard, accompanied by his sister, Melvarene, made a business trip to Salt Lake City over the week-end in the interest of the Dixie College Annual, of which he is business manager. Their mother's sister, Mrs. Wm. H. Bacon of Salt Lake, returned with them and will remain for two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Andrus and two children of Bell, Calif, were guests of Mr. Andrus' parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Andrus, Wednesday over Sunday. Several family dinners and other social functions honored them while here. On Thursday night 11 members mem-bers of the family attended the services at the Temple. The visitors with their sister, Mrs. Gordon Mathis, were guests on the city tour Friday evening, and expressed . enthusiastic appreciation apprecia-tion for this undertaking. R. A. Morris is here for an extended ex-tended visit with his mother and other family members. Several of Mr. Morris' recent paintings are on exhibit at the Liberty cafe, and are attracting much attention. atten-tion. Stanley Schmutz was home from Provo Sunday and Monday visiting. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Young of Ivanpah, Calif. visited Mrs. Young's mother, Mrs. George C. Berry last Thursday on their way home from Salt Lake City. Be looking for the big barbecue bar-becue notice. S - Mrs. Donald Schmutz and Mrs. A. K. Hafen returned last Sunday evening from attending the two-day two-day state convention of Parent-teacher Parent-teacher officials in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Schmutz, a regional president, represented the Southern South-ern district, and Mrs. Hafen the local organization. Mrs. Schmutz was featured in the state papers Saturday as a winner in the elections, elec-tions, being made a vice-president of the state organization. Mrs. Ethel Milne is again in the local hospital for medical treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Glover and Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Pugh of Kanab were guests over the week-end of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Heaton. Mrs. James Wolf underwent surgery in the local hospital April 21. Jtl ?,!.
