Show Funeral Services Held For Maria Stratton SpendSove At Hurricane HURRICANE, U t a h Funeral services for Mrs. Mai-ia Stratton Spendlove were held in the Hurricane Hur-ricane South ward July 17. Mrs. Spendlove died in Cedar City July 14 following pneumonia and heart trouble. Born in Virgin, October 3, 1879, she was the daughter of James Albert and Emily A. Gardner Stratton. She received her district schooling in Virgin and when grown had the benefit of one year at the old St. George stake Academy Aca-demy which was taught in the Tabernacle basement in early days. In the year 1893 she married Henry Spendlove and they moved to Grafton to make their home. Later they moved to Hurricane, after that town was settled and her life has been active then' in church and civic affairs. At the lime of her death she was class leader of the Hurricane chapter or the D.U.I'. She was the mother of five children, all of whom, wilh her husband survive. There are four sous, ('ail and Arnold Spendlove. of Virgin; Will Spendlove, of I'anaea, and Marion, of Cedar City and one daughter, Mrs. Udella Webb or Salt Lake City. All were present al her bedside during her illness, and were also al the services in Hurricane. Other survivors are the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Lizzie Lee, Albert, Frank, Will and Hubert SI rat ton, all of Hurricane; Powell Stralton and Mis. Minnie Wilson, of La Verkin; Mrs. l'ersis Higbee of Cedar City and Charles SI rat Ion of llinkley. |
