Show MARGARET JARVIS DIES OF INFLUENZA MargaTet Jarvis, age 7 6 years, died Friday morning, January 12th at 7 a. m. at her home at St. Johns, Arizona. Death following follow-ing an attack of influenza from will, eViA hart suffered for two weeks. Mrs. Jarvis was born in Boston. Bos-ton. Massachusetts on November 28th, 1857, and with har parents par-ents George Jarvis and Ann Prior Jarvis she emigrated the next year to Utah, settling in St. George where her girlhood days were spent. On March 1st, 1878 she was married to Chas. (De Friez Jarvis in the St. George Temple, the next year the newly married couple responded to a call made by their church headers and came to Arizona, first residing resid-ing in Snowflake, and later living in Woodruff and Nutrioso before finally settling in St. Johns. Mr. Jarvis was prominent in civic affairs having served in various public offices, he died in 1919. They were the parents of eight children, one died in infancy, the living children are Mrs. Margaret J. Overson, Mrs. Annie J. Over-son, Over-son, Mrs. (Stella J. Peterson, Chas. R. Arthur, Albert and Mrs. Lois J. Graham. The latter came from Salt Lake City and Arthur from Fredonia to be at their mothers bedside before her death. There are 48 living grandchildren and nine deceased; also some 25 great, grand-children. She is survived by three sisters, sist-ers, two of them, Mrs. Emmaline Cottam and Mrs. Josephine Miles, Mil-es, live in St. George. The other, Mrs. Annie C. Milne, lives in Salt Lake City. Mrs. Jarvis is the third member mem-ber of her family to dip in the last four months. B. Jarvis Sr.. a brother died here in St. George on September 15 and her sister-in-law Mrs. Francis DeFriez Jarvis, Jar-vis, died in El Paso, Texas on September 17. |
