Show SATURDAY DECLARED POPPY DAYJBY MAYOR Saturday, May 27, was designated desig-nated as "Poppy Day" in St. George in a proclamation issued today by Mayor John T. Woodbury, Wood-bury, Jr. The proclamation called call-ed upon all citizens of the city to observe the day by wearing the American Legion and American Ameri-can Legion Auxiliary poppy in memory of the World War dead. The proclamation stated: "Whereas, in the great crisis of the W7orld War the young men of St. George offered their services servic-es to our country with an exalted spirit of patriotism, numibers of them sacrificing their lives in that service: MAnd, whereas, the same exalted exalt-ed spirit of patriotism is needed today for the service of our country in its peace-time difficulties: difficul-ties: Therefore, I, J. T. Wpodbury, Jr., mayor of the city of St. George, urge all citizens to recall the spirit of these gallant dead and renew the memory of their high patriotic service by the wearing of the American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary memorial poppy on Saturday, May 27. "To that purpose, I do hereby proclaim Saturday, May 27, Poppy Pop-py Day in the City ot St. George, Utah. John T. Woodbury, Jr. Mayor |
