Class Baseball Sci-Icm The sophomore baseball learn, captained by Howard Church won tho class series held at the Dixie college the last two weeks. The sophs were not considered even In the running when the Herles started, but they came through In a true dark horso fashion. The members of the team are: Howard Church. Reed Wilson, Maeser Terry, Reed Anderson, Clayton Nelson, Donald Bleak, Sam Crosby, Calvert Andrus, Carl Wilkinson, Clifford Stratlon, and Grant Whitehead. The scores of the games are: Sophomores 10, Faculty 9; Freshmen Fresh-men S, High School 7; High School 14, Faculty B; Sophomores Sophomor-es 10, Freshmen 9; Sophomores 13. High school . This was the best series ever to he played at the school. The most Interesting game was that between the Sophomores and the over-estimated Freshmen. The Fershmen led up until the final Inning. when the Sophomores made a spurt, winning by one run. Tho Dixie College Student Body officers met Friday for the purpose of planning the Founder's Found-er's Day program and to distribute distri-bute the student body funds. All vacant offices have been lllled In th student body. The officers of this school year are: President, Austin Hunt; Vice-President, Vice-President, Cornelia Ashby; Sophomore So-phomore Representative. Virgil Snow; Freshmen representative, Jasper Crawford; Fo'irth Year representative. Devora Whitehead; White-head; Third Year representative. Ada Hafen; Second Year representative. repre-sentative. Phoebe Lytic; Cheer Leads, George Whipple and Clayton Clay-ton Nelson; Commissioner of Athletics, Howard Whitehead; Commissioner of A lvertising, Howard Benson; Commissioner or debating. Karl Wilkinson; Secretary. Secre-tary. DeVora Whitehead. The assembly period Inst Thursday was under the direction of the second year girls' home room. The main feature of the program was a skit depicting the suffering of a first year as he enters school, and the spirit of friendliness of the Dixie faculty. The various teachers were very weP mimicked by the girls Other Oth-er numbers were a dance and a vocal duet. Tuesday's assembly program was given by students from three geographical units of the Dixie Junior College district. The students stu-dents from Fnterprise. Gunlock. Yeyo. Central and Pino Valley were Introduced by Maeser Terry. Loretta Mnrdock presented the students from Millard and Beaver Beav-er counties. Genevieve I Tea ton introduced the Hurricane. LaVerkin LaVer-kin and Toquerville students. Each group gave a short program. pro-gram. Other groups of the district dis-trict will give programs In the futu re. Assemhly programs for the near future ar as follows: Get. 5, vocal music department; Oct. 10, asiects of American schools recently attended by Dixie College Col-lege faculty members, and numbers num-bers from the piano department: Oct. 13, Founders' Day. Founders' Day will be fittingly celebrated Oct. 13. The order of events for the day Is now being be-ing planned by the student body officers and the faculty. All patrons pa-trons of the Dixie Junior College are cordially Invited to participate partici-pate in the program of the day. The total enrollment at the Dixie is now 54 7; of these, 163 are full-time college students. |
