Show BURGLARS GET SWIFT JUSTICE KT.CORT District Court opened here Tuesday Tues-day with Judge Burton on the bench and a number of attorneys in attend ance. James I. Spear, 23, and George B. Douglas, 18, pleaded guilty to a charge of second degree burglary, and were sentenced to the penitentiary penitent-iary for a term of one to 20 years. They were taken to the state prison Wednesday. The crime was committed com-mitted about 2:30 a. m. Wednesday, March 9, consisting of breaking into the Mathis store. They assaulted the nightwatchman who detected them, but this charge was not lodged against them. Delos Bradshaw out on parole, was charged with breaking his parole and was sent to the state prison to serve sentence of one year. His crime was forging and issuing a check. Suit at present being tried is that of the All-American Oil company and the Uzona Oil company plaintiffs vs. Lee Cox, Melvin Cox, Vernon Church,-Glenn Church,-Glenn Cannon and Charles D. Alsop, defendants; suit to quiet title to real estate and restraining order. Mur-dock Mur-dock & Murdock and Sam Cline are the plaintiff attorneys; Le Roy H. Cox is attorney for Lee Cox, Melvin Cox, Vernon Church and Glenn Cannon; Can-non; D. H. Morris and Chase Hatch are attorneys for Charles D. Alsop. Alsop et al claim that the land in question was leased to them for drilling drill-ing purposes, while plaintiffs claim a prior lease. There is a heavy calender tip's term of court. |
