Show BILLS SHOULD BECOME LAWS There are two bills before the state legislature that should become laws. One is directed to safer and saner automobile driving, having special reference re-ference to drunken drivers. Many lives have been sacrificed and numerous numer-ous injuries inflicted by drivers under un-der the influence of intoxicating liquor or narcotics, and the punishment punish-ment inflicted on the transgressers has been far short of what they deserved. The punishment for this offense should be very severe because the party responsible has wilfully violated the law in the first place by becoming intoxicated. No sympathy should be shown transgressors. Life and limb are too precious to De neeu-lessly neeu-lessly sacrificed by foolish people who err because they will not obey the law. The other bill is aimed to make the prohibition law more effective. People Peo-ple who will not willingly obey the law must be taught that it is no light matter to disregard it. The prohibition prohibi-tion law is constantly violated all over the country, and it is high time that more drastic measures are adopted adopt-ed to help in its enforcement. No matter what one's feelings about it, it is the law and all good citizens willingly wil-lingly obey it. Good citizens need have no fear of the laws penalties it is the violator that should be made to see that he is in error, by drastic treatment. i |
