Show New Mineral Makes Mining Easy Washington Mineral that exploded when first discovered was brought back here Sunday by Dr. W. F. Foshag. a Smithsonian Institution geologist, from an expedition into the mining regions of northern Mexico. Discovery of the mineral was made while men were extracting silver ore. The explosions ot the new mineral aad the sound and effect of charges of dynamite, and were believed to have resulted from the mineral forming form-ing in insufficient space and bursting when given an outlet. Crystals ot gypsum the size of a post six feet eight to ten inches wide were also j brought back by Dr. f oshag.' The exploding mineral was called hille-I hille-I Jraiulite. |
