Show U. S. STANDS BY LEASE RULING WASHINGTON, . April 21. Attorneys At-torneys of the interior department said today that the department would continue to carry out its policy pol-icy of oil conservation until a final order is issued ty a court of last resort compelling Secretary Wilbur to grant permits to oil and gas prospectors on the public domain. The recent decision of the supreme su-preme court of the District of Columbia, Co-lumbia, the second within a week ordering the secretary to issue oil prospecting permits, will be appealed, appeal-ed, together with the first, decision, decis-ion, to the court of appeals of the District of Columbia. Should an adverse decision be returned re-turned by the higher court, a petition pe-tition probably will be made to the United States supreme court for a review of the cases. Meanwhile oil prospectors will not be allowed to operate on government land in violation vi-olation of the conservation order of Secretary Wilbur pending final disposition dis-position of the cases. Wilbur has said that if final court decision fails to uphold the government gov-ernment policy of curtailing production, produc-tion, enabling legislation will be sought. |
