Show SANTA CLARA LEADS IN TAX COLLECTIONS Santa Clara heads the list of Washington county towns with a tax collection of 70 per cent, following by St. George with 6 5 per cent. Hurricane is a trifle over 50 per cent, and most other corporate towns and cities in the county show an average of over 40 per cent. Preliminary check-up of the tax rolls up to Wednesday night shows that approximately 5S'j per cent of the IS 3 2 assessment has been collected, according to County Treasurer Mabel Jarvis. This is just slightly under the GO per cent anticipated, but it is believed to be far above the percentage per-centage expected by the general public in consideration of existing exist-ing conditions. Last year the collections col-lections to the delinquency date was almost 70 per cent. With average collections up to the final date for settlement before publication of delinquents, it is expected that between 60 and 65 per cent of the taxes will be paid. This, with a large number of tax redemptions that have been made, looks favorable for the schools and county generally. |
