Show LEEDS PIONEER CALLEDJY DEATH Daughter of Battalion Member; Was Always An Active Church Worker. Mrs. Susan Adams Harris, 7S, died at her home here Saturday of the infirmities of old age. She had been in ill health for a number of years, and bedfast for the last eight weeks. Mrs. Harris was horn June 3, 1S53, at Paragoonah, the c-nly child of Orson Bennett and Susan Su-san Smith Adams. Her father was orderly sergeant and quartermaster quar-termaster in the Mormon battalion, bat-talion, and her .mother was one of the three women who accompanied accom-panied the battalion as nurses and laundresses. On December 11, 1S70, Susann Adams was married to Silas William Harris of Harrisburg. Her death preceded her 64th wedding anniversary by four months. She was the mother of thirteen children, ten of whom are still living. She was an active ac-tive church worker in all the organizations in which women participate. For ten years she was Primary president in Leeds. In Cowley, Wyo., she was counselor to the Relief Society president for four years, and was president of the organization organiza-tion in Union. Ore. Ange-les. Also GO grandchildren and 2 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Leeds Sunday at 4 p. m. under the direction of Bishop Edward McMullin. Opening song, "Oh, My Father", Fa-ther", was by a male quartet. Prayer, Henry Jolley. Vocal solo, "Face to Face", Job F. Hall. Speakers were David McMullin, McMul-lin, D. H. Morris and Arthur F. Miles. A musical reading was given by Miss Mabel Jarvis, and a vocal solo, "Invocation", George P. Lytle. Benediction, A. N. Winsor. The grave in the Leeds cemetery ceme-tery was. dedicated by Bishop Harold Snow of the St. George South ward. Forty relatives and friends from St. George attended the funeral. |
