Show aG III C 1 fv I t f ors 1 vi J I tf lj a II I t tl A 1 i 14 4 r L r rJ J iJ ro ew 4 t t y y C s PIONEER HONORED Funeral services for Jose i B Morris held Monday Funeral Rites Monday I Honor Josie B Morris JENSEN Funeral services for Mrs Josie Morris 90 9 who died May 28 at the home of a granddaughter Mrs Orsen Belle Christensen in Salt Lake City were held Monday at 10 am at the Jensen Ward Chapel with Bishop Meril Snow conducting Prelude and postlude music was played by a ter atthe Mrs Amy Lube Prayer at the mortuary was by Fred Reynolds The opening song The TheOld Old Rugged Cross was sung by Corwin Snow accompanied by Marie Hatch Opening prayer by Richard Dow and remarks were given by Bishop Snow A song Lead Kindly Light by a granddaughter and her hus band Larry and Dorothy Wanner accompanied by Mrs Lube Speakers were Curtis Dudley and Harmon For the closing song Mrs Lube played a piano solo The End of a Perfect Day Closing prayer by Orvil Dud Dud- Dudley ley Pallbearers were grandsons and law grandsons Robert Neldon Eaton Larry Wanner Jim Lube Jim Lube Jr and George MacKnight Burial was in the Bassett family cemetery at Browns Park under the direction of the Vernal Mortuary The grave was dedicated by J Arben Jolley Mrs Morris was born Janu- Janu January January ary 17 1874 at Rockport Arkansas to Herbert and Eliza Chamberlain Bassett At the age of 4 years she came with her parents to Browns Park She married Jim Mac Mac- MacKnight MacKnight Knight and they were the parents of two sons Crawford MacKnight of Jensen and Chick MacKnight of Nevada They were divorced and she later married Ben Morris She is survived by her two sons eight grandchildren 17 7 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren Her gran children are Boone MacKnight of Jensen Amy Lube of Vernal Frank Knight of Jensen Betty Eat Eat- Eaton Eaton on Craig Colo Dorothy Wanner and Belle Christen Christen- Christensen sen of Salt Lake City Jane and Wilda MacKnight of Jensen all children of the Crawford Mrs Morris was a areal real pio- pio pioneer veer neer The young people of Jensen often rode their horses to her ranch vacation and listened to her exciting stories of past experiences Many noted writers have visited her to get back history and information a b o 0 u t Browns Park She and her heT sons lived in Jensen several years coming there in 1914 before they moved to the ranch at the foot of Blue Mountain She was featured in Life Magazine several years ago AMONG THOSE I from out of town attending the services service were her grandchildren and their families Mr and Mrs Duward Campbell of Browns Park Rial and George D Chew of Echo Park Christena Christella Parish and Mr and Mrs Grant Ainge of Rangely Thelma Murray Vigil of Garden Grove Calif Mr and Mrs Bernard Moon Wood Wood- Woodward Woodward ward Okla Harl Har and May Stewart of Price Mr and Mrs Jerry Hatch of Ballard Mr and Mrs Otis Butcher of Roosevelt Bob of Salt Lake City Mr and Mrs David Dav- Dav David id Aldridge and J Jo Eaton of Craig Traveling to Browns Park for the burial were Mr and Mrs Crawford MacKnight and family Joe Haslem Elsie Haslem Carl Dugan Harry AuMiller Rial and George D Chew Venice Rooks Bob Mr and Mrs Bernard Moon Mr and Mrs Shirley Ainge Gladys Bascom Thel- Thel Thelma Thelma ma Vigil Mr and Mrs Homer Robertson Mr and Mrs Bob Shiner Mary Jensen Nila Murray and daughter Mr and Mrs Richard Dow and son Gary and Leo Thorne of Ver- Ver Vernal Vernal nal and Elsie Engen of Jen- Jen Jensen Jensen sen Her son Chick was unable to be here for the services |
