Show Rebekah Lodge Hods Memorial Service Unity Rebekah Lodge No 23 held a Memorial Service on their regular meeting last Wednesday at the Hall in honor of two former members who dIed within a week of each other Lillian White and Ethel Brown Fain Fam- ily members and friends at- at attending attending tending the service were Iras Bertha White Bes- Bes Bessie Bessie sie Swain Phyllis Warby Glenda Rae Brown Pauline Hazelbush and Effie Hall Under the direction of Lu Havens members in their robes advanced up the center of the hall in pairs to the Charter with an open Bible placed before it then turned to face the family and recited in turn the known attributes of the departed sisters The Charter was draped in mourning and a hymn solo was sung Where We Never Grow Old Bessie Swain then gave the parting tribute to Lillian White and Lu Havens gave the tribute for Ethel Drown Brown and the service was concluded Books will be placed ed in the Congregational Church Library as memorials for each by the Rebekah Lodge and the Past Noble Noble- Grands Club of which they were both members at the re- re request request quest of the family The Noble Grand welcomed back to the lodge after a long absence Bessie Bessle Swain Bertha White Neva Ashby Zina An An- Anderson derson and Betty Rae Hart Refreshments were served after lodge meeting by Alma Jeffries and Mrs J C Ander Ander- Anderson son s Lt Larry M Burke Durke his wife Phyllis and son Kary visited over the weekend with Lt Burkes Burke's family Mr and Mrs Melvin Burke and Mr and Mrs Darius Burke Lt Burke has just recently re- re returned returned turned from Germany where he participated in operation Big Lift He piloted a trans trans- transport port plane which carried troops and supplies Lt Lt Burke is stationed at Hill Air Force Base and Is attached to the Air Transport Squadron |
