Show 1 r i lt School News dews Views BONANZA SCHOOL BAND DAY By Glen Beaman Grade Friday the class went to town We saw bands from the Uintah sin Basin play and march The band I liked was Ashley Valley Junior High The things 1 liked that they did were the wagon wheel and the band music they played READ THE NEWSPAPER Angela Goodrich Grade All this year our teacher Mr Hemingway has been try try- trying trying ing to get us to read the news news- newspaper paper J Tuesday Tuesday morning we start start- started start start- started ed cutting articles from the then n newspaper for a scrapbook He said to cut out an article for each subject in school and andin andin in other areas The subjects and areas are politics current events weather sports social studies social ev ev- events eats science education math spelling art music health and reading Now we aU all are reading the more and enjoy it HONOR ROLL Deborah Grade At the Bonanza elementary school if we get five As A's in a arow arow row in handwriting we get geton geton on the honor roll Later if we get two grades row below an A we are removed removed from U it The people that are on the honor roll are Christine Jones George Gurr Angela Good Good- Goodrich rich Lila Bowden and Sammy Hemingway We all hope to get on it VISITING DAY Diana Abplanalp Grade Monday at Bonanza School the grade is going to visit Ashley Valley Junior High school Their names are Glen Beaman Lila Bowden Chris Chris- Christine tine Jones George Gurr Bar Bar- Barbara Barbara bara Abplanalp Shanna Mor Mor- Mor Morgan gan and Elroy Hardinger They are going to see how It will l b a next year if they pass thatis that is THE CONTEST Christine Jones Grade They won We won Yes at Bonanza School we hear this every day We are having a contest at Bonanza School We take points on the different teams we have One team is John Bartletts Bartlett's team and the other team isKe is Kern 11 Cooks W We take points on all our subjects in in- in including baseball and give the teams points For we give four fourpoints points for nineties we give three points for eighties we give two points for seventies We give one point for sixties we give zero points and be be- be below low that its it's minus ones The team that loses has to serve the other team a dinner The contest will last until the end of school MAESER 3RD GRADE LITTLE CHICKS HATCH By Bruce Colton Our third grade class at Mae Maeser eT school brought eggs to school We put them in an in in- in incubator for 26 days An incubator is a heating unit with holes in it so you youcan youcan can see through to see the baby chicks when they start to break the shells Then the lit lit- little littie tie tle baby chicks peep out We raised 16 little chicks We threw all the other eggs away after the day HATCHING BABY CHICKS By Colleen Merkley April 2 Mrs Caldwell and Jan Feltch brought some chick eggs to school Mrs Caldwell brought 42 and Jan brought 6 We put them in inthe Inthe the incubator for 3 weeks Every day we looked in and there would be more chicks One day a chick was trying to get out of its shell but it couldn't because it was right under the thermometer We told Mr Porter He came in inand inand and moved the thermometer After all the chi chicks s that were going to hatch we took them in the back hall BABY CHICKS By Carla Hardy On April 2 Jan Feltch and Mrs Caldwell brought some eggs t to school Then we put the eggs in the incubator hours later which is 3 w weeks els the chicks started to hatch Every day we had to set the temperature just right or orthey orthey they would die Then every everyday everyday day till they hatched we turn turn- turned turned ed them over Then one day when I went to school Susie said that n a lit lit- little littie tie tle chick had hatched Sure enough nough a little yellow chick had hatched After the bell rang 3 or 4 eggs started to crack That same day we had 4 or 5 chicks who had crack crack- cracked cracked ed ope open n and got out put of their shell 1 or Z 2 days later 16 chicks I hatched No more chicks hat hat- hatched ched So Mrs Caldwell said we could take the rest of the eggs out of the incubator and crack them and if you could see their heart she would put them back in the incubator Susie said she felt it move a little bit so we took it in to Mrs Caldwell and Mrs Cald- Cald Caldwell Caldwell well put it in the incubator But it did not live So now we keep the chicks who did hatch hatchin in the brooder MAESER 1ST GRADE THE UNITED STATES OUR LAND LANDBy LANDBy By Marya Marva On the of May we held our Spring Activity Day The first grade did a corn dance The grade girls twirled batons Ray and Loren carried the North Central States banner The PTA sold ice cream pop candy and hamburgers OUR BOOK TREE The first grade are reading many books We like to read books We have a book tree Mrs Smith puts a leaf on the tree for each book we read Five leaves give us a blossom We have 47 blossoms on our tree |
