Show More time granted to complete schools Foremen on the two elementary schools presently under construction in Lapoint and Davis asked the Uintah School Board Thursday for a six month extension on the completion date for the schools because of construction problems Major delays in construction of the Davis Elementary was caused by the fill which could not be placed until the frost melted Also the engineers staked the building on the site and the architects didn't allow enough frontage on the building said Craig Lybert foreman of the Davis project Delays on the Davis Elementary set the Dec 14 1981 starting date to March 31 1982 Delays on the Lapoint Elementary have been caused by a lack of information information tion concerning water gas and sewer lines said Tom Broderick foreman of that project The contractors requested that the board extend the completion date to April 15 on the Lapoint school and June 15 for the Davis school School Board President Elouise Turner told the contractors that a June 15 completion date would allow only 60 days to prepare the schools for students this fall The contract on the two stipulates completion before Jan 1 1983 1981 and a per day penalty after December Board members concurred that the contractor has done an excellent job on the two schools to date and approved a compromise date of May 1 1983 as the completion date for the two schools and the penalty would be charged each day after that Nate Jones School District inspector of the two projects said that he is not op- op opposed opposed posed to the extension but that he believed believed ed the project could be expedited by not having the same subcontractor work on both schools Jones reported that work on the two schools is continuing through the winter as most work is being done Inside |
