Show Union High Has lIas Unique Position Of School Shared 2 Districts By Rhoda T Robinson Supervisor of Adult Education The Uintah School District and our neighbor to the west the Duchesne School District haye the distinction of being the only school districts In the State of Utah to share a school Union High School is built on the Uintah Duchesne Duchesne coun ty line and came into being because each district had a high school which needed to tobe tobe be replaced and these two schools were actually only five miles apart Instead of building two small schools they decided to investigate the possibilities of combining for ces to build one large school sharing the cost and expenses Special legislation enacted in the Utah Legislature gave them permission and govern govern- was sought from Congress An appropriation was allowed for this purpose from funds available at that time and so Union was built at an approximate cost of with the Federal government paying third one and the two school districts third one each TODAY THIS beautiful school situated as I mention mention- mentioned mentioned ed on the county line one one- half mile east of Roosevelt is isa isa a monument to cooperation n and evidence of what can be accomplished by two groups working toward a common Improved goal education for our young people Union HIgh has her own school board with two board members and the ent from each of the two dis dis- districts districts serving as Union board members and the principal of Union serving as the super of the board Unions Union's secretary serves as
