| Show Vernal to 0 Presidents Own 1 Band The Presidents Own band will appear in two con cents October 6 at the Uintah High School hool gymnasium inVernal in inVernal Vernal Both matinee and eve eve- evening ning programs are being spon spon- sponsored by Vernal Band Parents for the benefit of the Jr and Sr high School Bands The Marine Band tradition tradition- traditionally ally furnishes appropriate music at all White House so so- so social cial events and tile he Band Dand is always in place presenting its music at whatever Washing Washing- Washington ton occasions are officially at at- at attended tended by the President This years tour will take the Band Dand I through fifteen states in which matinee and even even- evening ing concerts will be presented The Bands engagement lists have included the open ing of the winter concert ser ser- series ling ies at Washington's Depart Depart- Departmental mental Auditorium and ac ac- ac accompanying companying the President to toa toa a number of governmental and LInd social functions Other highlights have in in- in eluded State and Nation din nets ners the Annual reo re- reception and dinner White Whitehouse house Bouse and State receptions I and dinners honoring foreign dignitaries the Vice President Speaker of the House the Chief Justice and Colonel John Glenn the astronaut In May the Bandsmen and I their directors escorted Mrs Kennedy Mrs Johnson and andI I Cabinet and Senate wives on onI I the occasion of a reception I and luncheon given in honor honorof honorof of th first lady by the Con Con- Congressional gressional wives During the summer the Band Dand presented twelve Sun Sun- Sunday day evening concerts on the Potomac River at the Water Water- Watergate II gate as well as entertaining lother other national nat and foreign dignitaries I The Marine Band made its last tour to the west coast in I 1959 and hope to greet many old friends as well as new ones during this years year's tour |
